Obama! What else can I say? I’m writing this a day after the election and I am overwhelmed. Words cannot express how I feel. I haven’t cried this hard in... forever. I did not think I would see a Black President in my lifetime. I cannot imagine how Jesse felt as I watched tears stream down his face, as I listened to Rep. John Lewis described his “out of body” experience.
The two men that I refer to are just a drop in the bucket to our aunts, uncles, grandparents and even those of us who were around during the civil rights movement. Those who weren’t able to drink out of the same fountains, use the same bathrooms, who were beat, kicked and lynched.
Barrack Hussein Obama has inspired a nation to hope and believe in his vision.
A friend called and told me that he called a few of his friends and basically said “There is no reason why you can’t get it.” Whatever you “it” is...you can obtain it. Whatever you want to achieve is possible...we have a black man as president. I believe that any dream that I have is achievable...nothing seems out of reach.
We have a black president who has transcended color lines. I love the fact that he has a beautiful black woman as a wife and two little girls who wear afro puffs and cornrows.
Obama being president is so much more than him being black...he brought together a nation!
